Finals Anyone?
You know finals week has arrived when there are papers and books spewed across the couch at all hours of the day. Looks like we've had too much studying and not enough procrastinating going on in our house this semester. Don't forget to vote on our poll of what we should be doing with all of our down time. You can even choose more than one.
Jeff graduates with his Bachelor's this Saturday! President Monson is speaking at the commencement. (I know. Not a big deal for all you BYUians, but it's a big deal for us Cedar City folk.) I hope he stays at Abbey Inn.

The Money You Could Be Saving With Geico
I'm sure you've all seen those Geico commercials of the creepy money with eyes lurking in the background of various situations. Here's one of their commercials:
Today in the mail we got an ad from Geico with their new mascot inside. All day today I've had fun putting it around the house sitting in awkward places where Jeff would find it.
I thought these commercials were so dumb at first, but I gotta give props to Geico. Looks like it worked for me. They did a good job making it just weird enough to spark interest and then build off of that. I'm learning so much at school.

A Breath of Fresh Air
Jeff and I went to Zion last weekend. We hiked up to Observation Point. I knew it was a long hike, and I knew we were hiking to a high point, but I never put the two together. It was 8 miles round trip. 4 miles straight up the mountain. It was beautiful up there and so nice to get away from everything for a day. The weather was perfect, too. I wasn't raised to be an outdoorsy kinda girl, but I think with more trips like this, Jeff might convert me to the wild.
We did some experimenting with photography while we were there. We're no Dallas Golden, but Jeff snapped some cool pics. The top of that mountain in the first picture is where we were headed.
I don't know how many times I heard Jeff say, "Alright Sarah, we just have to get to those pine trees clear up there and then it's pretty much flat after that."
This was one of my favorite parts of the hike.
Ah. And we finally made it to the top.
There were a lot of squirrels at the top. They were so used to getting fed by the hikers that they would come right up to us. I was more scared of the squirrels than they were of me.
This was also another one of my favorite parts of the hike.

Needless to say, it was a fun weekend. And definitely the breath of fresh air I needed to prepare for the dreaded finals week.

He's Grown A Foot or Two
I went up to Provo Wednesday night for the big opening of my little brother's mission call. We went out to eat at Olive Garden BEFORE he opened it and he was so nervous he barely finished his salad.
He gathered everyone he knew as he tore open the envelope with a $1.51 stamp. (Rumor has it $1.51 postage is a foreign mission.)
The envelope did not lie. Ben got called to the Singapore mission!!
This was each person's reaction after the question was asked, "How do you feel about Ben (or should I say Elder Thomas) going to Singapore on his mission?"
Brookie Monster was sure to snap a few pics.
Ben got to pin his name on the "Called to Serve" map at his dorm.
And then I woke up to this on Thursday morning.
Congratulations Ben! You'll make a super missionary. I'll be doing my research on Singapore. So far I've learned: 1) no chewing gum and 2) they will cane you if you break the law. I can't wait to learn more!

Recent Happenings
This is Jeff's night-stand. Do you notice an abundance of anything?
That's right, four copies of the Book of Mormon. We definitely don't have an excuse not to read every day.
And I did something very motherly yesterday. We've been really bad at doing our dishes lately, so I did this:
And to my surprise, Jeff actually signed.
And Happy Birthday Tana!

Priesthood Session
It was an eventful day in the Excell home. We broke down and threw away our fish bowl. We're retiring as parents. On that note, I do realize it looks like I have a baby bump in this picture. But as far as I know, it's just the newlywed 10.
And while the boys were away at Priesthood, Leslie and Kenz came over. We had a lot of fun, and I figured they would want to see these pictures.

No Jokes Here
A few summers ago I was an extra in a movie. I waited and waited for it to get to theaters, and was kind of disappointed to see it go straight to DVD. Last week Jeff and I watched "The Adventures of Food Boy" just to see if I made it in. And Jeff confirmed that my bum is definitely in a few shots. Go rent it and check it out!
