I've kept a finger on the pulse of all Corona-related news and information ever since the pandemic began, and of all the things I read, camping and outdoor activities were deemed the safest vacation options for the summer. The outdoors is something we can get behind, and camping is something we can deal with. To Lake Powell with the Excells we did go!
Jeff's family goes to Lake Powell every summer, but this was our first time joining them on account of our kids are finally big enough to enjoy the experience...or rather...our kids are finally big enough for me and Jeff to enjoy the experience.
The best part about a lake trip is the endless snacks!Everybody found a buddy and got to work rekindling their cousin bonds.
The first day was really windy, so we (Jeff) spent our (his) time securing tents, staking in canopies, and anchoring every floating device. The kids didn't mind the wind and the adults didn't mind the time to catch up.
Laura must have been giving off her caring kindergarten teacher vibes because Lincoln nestled right up to her whenever he needed a break from the breeze...and a break from feeding his own mouth.
Yes, Lincoln demanded to be spoon-fed by Laura, who happily obliged, and it was in my top 3 favorite moments from the trip.
Day two was sunnier and calmer. Time for the boats!
Carson is our land explorer. He preferred the sand, rocks, and snacks over the water activities.
Eli was the water guy. Eager to try any water sport we presented him with.
Jonah loved the boats. Any motorized vehicle was his jam.
Well, I guess we all enjoyed the motorized vehicles!
This was our very first camping trip! The older boys were pretty nervous to give camping a try, and night one was a little rocky...literally and figuratively...but we did it! Night two went a lot smoother and now we can say we've done it! Our nice, big tent has a way of tempting us to do it again very soon!
We're hoping this becomes a yearly tradition. We loved our time at the lake with family!

Your Excell family vacations always look so fun. Laura was so nice to cradle Lincoln and spoon feed him. Haha!! How nice to be pampered so kindly on vacation.
